NightBook Novel Second Edition on Kickstarter!

The first edition printed in paper-back was so expensive to make that I had to charge friends and family an arm and a leg just to break even.  Which is why I ask for your help with printing the second edition.  I have shopped around for prices and have found a deal overseas that charges $3.50 a book with a minimum order of 1,000. That puts the project at exactly $3,500 for production cost.

I want to have enough NightBooks to fill independent bookstores all over the country, and still have enough to donate to libraries and schools.

You can have a part in making this happen for me.

Thank you so much for your time and consideration.

Reviews of NightBook

“NightBook is a brilliant approach to storytelling. This series of short stories runs the gamut of emotions as Barriger carefully weaves us through the dangers and rewards of love. The masterfully controlled tone and tempo of these stories covertly kept my heart beating at the pace Barriger commanded while she enchanted and distracted me with fantasies. At every turn I found myself connecting with the characters as if they were all me and I them. Without giving too much away, her choice of using short stories to tell a greater story is skillfully crafted to dig deep into my heart and give me the visceral experiences that I know all too well from my own romantic triumphs and failures. But this is not just an exercise in the raw and primal nature of love. This is an intellectual piece that tapped into the inner sanctum of my mind to touch my deepest motivations and fears through whimsical allegories. Paired with Barriger’s own original paintings, NightBook expertly illustrates the complexities of love through an emotional journey that will be familiar to anyone who has ever known love and desire.”

“NightBook is a great read. At the first beginning chapters one gets the feel of a fictional anthology or composition of short stories that has little or nothing to do with you, the reader. You may feel quite distant from the characters presented by the author. I would however be cautious about this approach .It is worth noting that the author goes out of her way to bring the reader from a world of fiction and cannily invites you into a world that whether you know it or not you are one of the characters in the book. Its one of those books that if you pay attention to, will sneak up on you and you are no longer reading it but it's actually speaking to you.  Very well written and a pure work of genius, I would say.”

“I felt every story was poignantly written to evoke an attachment to each character. A warmth came over me when I realized I didn't just plainly understand the emotions described, I knew the characters' fears and freedoms firsthand from my own experiences. Not only are all the stories interconnected, as cheesy as it sounds, you can be a part of it as well if you let yourself really sink into this book. Courtney's style is intelligent yet easy to read, and I can't wait to read more from her!”

“I had the pleasure to read Nightbook, and really enjoyed the imagery and spectrum of different emotions this anthology presents. The Pyramid stood out to me as one of the high points, and I loved the ending of the book as well. Inspiring!”

“One of the best books I've read in a while.. Loved it “
